KSU project designing automated exoskeleton to aid stroke victims

肉肉传媒 student William Thompson is blending engineering with rehabilitation in a project that seeks to design an automated exoskeleton to aid victims of stroke. William Thompson, a mechanical engineering major, is working with Associate Professor of Mechanical Engineering Ayse Tekes on the project, 鈥淒evelopment and Testing of Bio-Inspired and Lightweight Exoskeleton for Enhanced Upper Body Mobility鈥� as a part of the Summer Undergraduate Research Program.

肉肉传媒 State public health students win gold designation at national competition A team of students in 肉肉传媒鈥檚 Wellstar College of Health and Human Services recently won national recognition at the Society for Public Health Education鈥檚 (SOPHE) National Case Study Competition in Health Education. Recent public health graduate Liz Burchfield teamed with public health students Angel Fortmann and Allisa George to earn a gold designation, one of six universities nationwide to receive this accolade. Associate professor of public health and director of the public health program LaNita Wright advised the trio.

肉肉传媒 State researchers developing AI-powered drones to protect peanut farms from wildlife

Feral hogs in Georgia cause an estimated $150 million in agricultural damage each year, according to the U.S. Department of Agriculture. To address this growing threat, 肉肉传媒 researchers are launching an AI-powered drone system to autonomously protect peanut fields from nighttime wildlife intrusion and reduce costly crop losses. Supported by a $25,000 Georgia Peanut Commission grant, the one-year Night Owl project is a collaboration between 肉肉传媒 State assistant professors Taeyeong Choi and Yan Fang, and University of Georgia agricultural economist Ford Ramsey.

Walking across the stage at 肉肉传媒鈥檚 Commencement ceremony was a remarkable moment for Sladjana Ray 鈥�24. Having earned an education specialist degree, it marked her third successful round in higher education, to strengthen her skillset as a history teacher. In the crowd were her daughter, Mima Hrnjak, a nursing student in 肉肉传媒 State鈥檚 Wellstar College of Health and Human Services, and Ray鈥檚 parents. They made the trip from their native Serbia, known as Yugoslavia when Ray migrated to the states in the 鈥�90s as a 16-year-old basketball player.

Triplets each find their own path to success at 肉肉传媒 State

Three sisters born minutes apart, but vastly different in terms of interests and career goals, thought about going separate ways for college. But in the end, they found that 肉肉传媒 fit all their needs. 鈥淲e did a plethora of research to find a school that鈥檚 right for us,鈥� said Jessica Okafor, triplet to Angela and Benita. 鈥淭here was always at least one missing piece in the schools that we looked through, until we found KSU. We saw that KSU had everything we had interest in, and when we did the tours, the open house, the orientation, I was blown away by how beautiful the school was. I saw my future in just a few seconds.鈥�
